Ready to apply? Here are your next steps:

  1. Make sure you meet our admission requirements
  2. Go to ApplyTexas.org
  3. Complete and submit the application, along with the nonrefundable application fee or the application fee waiver request
  4. Pay the undergraduate application fee. 
  5. Have official HS transcript sent
  6. Send your official ACT/SAT scores
  7. Apply for scholarships & Financial aid.

Students who are interested in obtaining their teacher certification are welcome to apply for admissions with the above listed instructions.

If you have previously attended Sam Houston State University or would like to attend for one semester, make sure you meet these additional admission requirements for acceptance.

Proof of Meningitis Vaccination: As of January 1 2012, SHSU students will be required to provide proof of meningitis vaccination before the first day of class. To see if you are required to provide proof of vaccination, please visit www.shsu.edu/meningitis.

Application Fees

Undergraduate Admission Fee: $45

You can pay the application fee as you complete your application through ApplyTexas.org.
You can mail a check or money order to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or follow this link to pay online.

**Summer 2011, Fall 2011 Undergraduate Fee:  $45
**Please note that the application fee policy has been changed.  The changes will affect all applicants beginning in the Summer 2011 semester and each semester thereafter.  The application fee will now be $45 and a late application fee will not be charged if received after application deadline.  In order to apply for a different semester, a new application and $45 application fee must be submitted.  Application fees must be paid prior to receiving an admissions decision.

 

 

Request an application fee waiver

Effective August 1, 2010, SHSU will charge a convenience fee of 2.75% for all credit card payments which includes application fee payments through Apply Texas.                         

However, students and their parents or benefactors have multiple options for making payments due to SHSU without a convenience fee being assessed.  Payments can be made online via ACH (E-Check) or in person via paper check, cash, or money order without being charged a convenience fee.
