Undergraduate
Students in their first year of college after high school graduation to include attempted college coursework while in high school.
Joint Admission
A special alliance between your community college and Sam Houston State University. This partnership was developed to make your transition to SHSU as smooth as possible. You can access many of the resources available to Sam students and receive some Bearkat perks before you actually enroll.
Transfer
Check the list of over 40 colleges/community colleges with over 50 transfer majors per college with up to 66 transfer credit hours in our Transfer Equivalency Checklist.
Graduate
For prospective students interested in pursuing a master's degree, a doctoral degree, teacher certification after completion of the bachelor's degree, or additional undergraduate or graduate coursework after the completion of the bachelor's degree*.
*Students interested in receiving a second bachelor's degree should apply through Undergraduate Admissions.
Wanting to pursue a Ph.D. or Ed.D.
SHSU provides opportunities for students to pursue doctoral programs in Criminal Justice, Educational Leadership, Counselor Education, Clinical Psychology, and Reading.
Distance/SHSUOnline Admission

International
For prospective students not holding U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
Veteran
A student who is a veteran of active duty, currently in the Reserves or National Guard, or dependents of a veteran.
